As we know, Poverty is a major problem in our world, it is a common social issue that has troubled nations for thousands of years, and despite being in the 21st century, it is still there; people without food, shelter, clothing, medication or water safe to drink, and death is always knocking at the door.
Moreover, Poverty is an issue that happens all over the world, especially in developing countries. And when people think of poverty, they think of Africa, and for fair reasons. In fact, Africa is the only continent that contains nations where the average life expectancy is below 60, and it goes as low as 45 in the war-torn Central African Republic. But, contrary to popular belief, people in poor countries aren't necessarily poor, take Iceland for instance, it takes the 107 rank based on GDP, whereas Ethiopia takes the 68 rank. Nevertheless, Iceland's standard of living is one of the highest while Ethiopia's is way far behind.
Furthermore, Poverty is a complex issue, and its causes are numerous and varied, such as Rapid population growth, unemployment, weak political structure, corruption, low access to education, epidemic diseases (as it is the case with AIDS in south and central Africa), geographical factors (like being a landlocked country) and historical factors (e.g. countries that were once colonized are among the poorest in the world).
In closing, Poverty is a serious world problem, and most of the other world problems are directly or indirectly related to it, making it hard to deal with. Yet Education remains the keystone for any attempt to remove it.
